    \nFrom BTS’s announcement of a hiatus to the chairman of Hybe, Bang Si-hyuk’s “K-pop crisis theory,” there has been much discussion about the decline of K-pop, which appeared to peak in 2022 with record-breaking album sales. However, the rise of “fourth-generation K-pop” singers, who have been enjoying success since the 2020s, is often cited as an example that the future of K-pop is not so bleak. Are the qualities that have made K-pop successful in the global marketplace, namely its hybrid blend of local “K” and global “Pop”, also putting it in danger? Or will K-pop evolve once again, adapting to the new media and cultural environment of the new era, as it has done so far?
